Client description

What is the Sacré-Cœur Hospital of Montréal ?

Founded in 1898, the Montréal Sacré-Cœur Hospital (HSCM) is one of the largest university-affiliated hospitals connected to the Université de Montréal. The hospital provides a full range of specialized and highly specialized medical and surgical care.

  • Level I Trauma Center: HSCM is one of only three hospitals in Québec equipped with a Level I Trauma Center, serving more than 2 million people.
  • University Affiliation: As a major university hospital, HSCM plays an active role in training future healthcare professionals in collaboration with the Université de Montréal.
  • Research and Innovation: The hospital is engaged in cutting-edge research, particularly in cardiovascular, respiratory, and mental health, as well as in traumatology and orthopedics.
  • Dedicated Foundation: Since its creation in 1976, the Montréal Sacré-Cœur Hospital Foundation has invested more than $90 million to support priority projects, reinforcing excellence in patient care.

The Montréal Sacré-Cœur Hospital stands out for its commitment to clinical excellence, teaching, and research, ensuring high-quality healthcare for the communities it serves.

Key Challenge

Difficulty locating equipment and workstations in real time

As the first pilot site of RIOH Inc., this institution aims to track equipment movements within the hospital in real time, particularly those circulating between departments and sent to Biomedical Engineering (GBM) for maintenance or repair. The goal is to gain better visibility over the equipment inventory in order to optimize management, prevent losses, and reduce unnecessary purchases of often costly equipment.

As part of the DSN project, the institution also seeks to integrate our software with EPIC to locate employee workstations, thereby improving organization and the efficiency of internal operations.

Provided solution

Combining geolocation and digital transformation

To meet the client’s needs, we deployed a solution combining Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Wi-Fi to ensure precise equipment tracking.

Installation of IoTcare tags on Biomedical Engineering (GBM) equipment to enable real-time geolocation.

Progressive deployment of IoTcare in part of the hospital, providing increased visibility on equipment movements.

Ongoing project to install wall outlets to facilitate the integration of our solution without relying solely on Wi-Fi access points.

Smart equipment tracking, with the option to use BLE tags or Wi-Fi mode, ensuring flexibility and adaptability to existing infrastructures.

This solution enables the hospital to optimize inventory management, reduce losses, and improve staff operational efficiency
